The RAF Elsham Wolds Association

The Association was formed in the late 1970s and has been in existence continually ever since.

Its purpose is: -

  • The remembrance and commemoration of all those who flew with 103 and 576 Squadrons and did not return and all those who have served at Elsham Wolds and with both Squadrons.
  • To organise and arrange an annual reunion so veterans, both men and women, and their families can experience a pleasant weekend back on their old stamping grounds and meet and enjoy the company of former comrades.
  • To record and document the history of Elsham Wolds and both Squadrons for future generations.

Membership is open to all those who served at Elsham Wolds and all veterans of 103 and 576 Squadrons. Associate members are welcome if they have a link with the Elsham Wolds and/or 103 or 576 Squadrons via family, friend or as a friend of the Association.

Membership entitles the holder to a newsletter with foiur editions a year and attendance at reunions or any other event organised by the Association. Ticket prices and booking details are published in the newsletter.

The reunion is usually held on the last weekend in August which is the August Bank Holiday weekend in the UK.

A Service of Remembrance is held on Remembrance weekend annually in November at the Elsham Wolds Memorial Site.

The Association is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Memorial and Memorial Garden and also the Memorial Room, which is situated next to the Garden. The Room, situated adjacent to the foyer of the water treatment works, is kindly loaned to the Association by Anglian Water on whose site the Memorial is situated. The Memorial Room contains an interesting collection of exhibits and photographs relating to Elsham Wolds and 103 and 576 Squadrons and is well worth a visit.

During the normal office working hours the Room can be viewed by obtaining a key from the site office in the same building. On weekends, holidays and evenings an appointment to view has to be made and contact details are available on request to myself, David Fell, at d.fell@virgin.net.
